Callie approaches Michael and is excited to see him, but she quickly realizes he’s an Ender in Michael’s body. The Ender licks her face and leaves. She worries that the Ender has permanently taken Michael’s body and is hurt that Michael didn’t wait for her to finish her rental as promised. She chases after him and points a gun at a random Starter.

Briona, Raj, and Lee appear for shopping. They say she called them. They chat about permanency, and Callie realizes it’s a trap. She recognizes them by their gestures. Briona is Doris. Lee is Tinnenbaum, and Raj, who beckons her to the car, is probably Rodney. Callie runs.

Callie escapes and goes back to the hotel to check on Tyler. She’s told Tyler and Florina checked out of the hotel that morning with an Ender. She is furious and goes to Blake’s ranch to meet with his grandfather. She demands to be taken to the Old Man, but Senator Harrison says he’ll die if he does. Callie pulls out her gun, and when Senator Harrison doesn’t comply with her demands, she shoots him. Blake pushes his grandfather out of the way so that only his arm is injured.
